Jon’s ‘WWE Hall Of Fame 2014’ Review – Long Speeches, Mr. T Gets Played Off, Carlito Gives No Damns

WWE HOF

Running over an hour past the announced end time and featuring longer speeches than I think many watching at home expected, the first live Hall Of Fame ceremony on the WWE Network was at times wonderful, funny, and heartbreaking…and at other times absolutely insane. In the interest of time I’m just going to go speech by speech, summarize their points, and give my thoughts on them but trust me guys…this needed to be seen to be believed so do yourself a favor and check it out when you have the chance. I doubt WWE will ever let a HOF ceremony get this out of hand ever again.

Lita Joins 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame Class

Lita WWE

Former Diva Amy “Lita” Dumas has been announced as the latest member of the 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame class. This announcement was made last night during RAW, which you can check out below.

Lita first jumped onto the scene in ECW as Miss Congeniality, the manager of goofball tag team Danny Doring Amish RoadkillShen then moved onto WWE in 2000 and after an uneventful stint managing midcarder Essa Rios, she joined up with The Hardy Boyz, the hottest tag team in the WWE at the time, forming the “Team Xtreme” stable. In addition to compete against the other Divas, Lita was known for mixing it up with the men as well, interfering in a host of Hardy Boyz’ matches. During this time she began dating Matt Hardy and this was eventually mixed in with the storylines including of a creepy love “triangle” with Hardy and Kane who had impregnated her against her will (and people miss this fucking era, I swear to god).

Unfortunately her real-life relationship with Hardy turned ugly when it was discovered that she was seeing Adam “Edge” Copeland behind his back. This nasty breakup was also inserted into storylines as she soon joined forces with Edge, acting as “The Rated R Superstar”‘s manager during his multiple WWE Championship runs. She retired from full-time competition in 2006 and has made appearances here and there since then, including RAW 1000 back in August of 2012 when she led a charge of legends in an onslaught against Heath Slater.

Lita was definitely the coolest Diva during my teenage wrestling fandom years, and her unique style was one that I tried desperately to find in a girlfriend to no luck. She was also one of the few Divas my female friends even knew about or liked, given that she wasn’t as blonde or generic as the others around that time. Being that I’m a guy and I never think about these things I underestimated her impact on the wrestling world, but if you look at the current scene you can see her influence in a lot of the women wrestlers that are currently plying their trade. A worthy induction indeed, even if she was unfortunately part of the most embarrassing era in pro wrestling history.

Lita will be inducted alongside The Ultimate Warrior and Jake Roberts on April 5th in New Orleans, the night before Wrestlemania XXX.

I’m excited that The Shield are in the game but outside of that the roster reveal from last night did nothing for me; it would have been weird if the people announced weren’t in the game (except for David Otunga, who I assume they’re putting in the game because they already have the character model from the previous iteration). Now let’s just hope the game itself doesn’t suck.
