News + Notes

  • Triple H opened the show (The Shield acting as his security/paramilitary force) and put over again why Randy Orton being WWE Champion was best for business, citing ratings and social media prowess. He then introduced Orton and gifted him a brand new Escalade. Daniel Bryan interrupted and sparred verbally with both men, calling Triple H a loser in a suit instead of a rebel in a leather jacket. Triple H spat back and announced the main event of the show: Bryan Vs. The Shield in a gauntlet match.
  • The Escalade would come into play later in the show as Daniel Bryan ruined it by spraypainting it all over with “YES!” in orange.
  • Following his match against Curtis AxelCM Punk went after Paul Heyman. However Axel attacked him from behind and cuffed his hands behind his back. Punk continued to fight back but Axel hit him with a chair to end the comeback. Axel grabbed a kendo stick from under the ring and handed it to Heyman, Punk telling him to “make it count”. Heyman proceeded to beat Punk over and over with the stick while yelling that he loved him and he fathered him. The action spilled to the outside and Heyman beat the hell out of him some more before he and Axel left the ring, the kendo stick in pieces.
  • Following the Total Divas match, which also featured cast member JoJo Offerman as the ring announcer, WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee made her way out and laid waste to everyone on the mic, saying that unlike all of them she earned her spot through her actual abilities and that none of them are fit to lace her Chuck Taylors. Essentially the Divas version of the CM Punk pipe bomb.
  • Ryback continued his bullying ways, this time unleashing her anger on Josh Matthews.
  • The awesome Wyatt Family “Sister Abigail” vignette released online a few days ago played on the show. Click here to watch it because it’s the f*cking greatest.
  • Triple H forced the WWE roster onto the entrance stage to watch the Daniel Bryan/Shield gauntlet match and said if any of them interfered they’d be fired. Renee Young attempted to interview some of the guys ringside but none of them would say anything for fear of their jobs. After the match ended Triple H made his way out, The Big Show turning his back on him (leading to “Big Show” chants), and watched as The Shield took Bryan out with a triple powerbomb. Randy Orton then made his way out and hit an RKO on the already hurt Bryan. The Shield posed over Bryan as Orton/Triple H left the ring to close the show. Lots of emphasis on The Big Show and Triple H mixed in between.
