Venue: Quicken Loans Arena (Cleveland, OH)

Commentators: Michael Cole, JBL, & Jerry Lawler

This week’s RAW dealt with both the fallout from the Royal Rumble and the march to the Elimination Chamber, with John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus facing off with The Shield in the main event to determine who would get spot in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Also on the show the champ himself Randy Orton had some facetime with Rumble winner Batista as well as self-proclaimed #1 contender Brock Lesnar, Cleveland natives The Miz and Dolph Ziggler battled for supremacy, and The New Age Outlaws defended their newly-won Tag Team Titles against the team they beat for the belts last night, Cody Rhodes & Goldust.

Read on for results and notes from the show, gathered from James Caldwell‘s much more in-depth analysis/coverage over at PWTorch.

Match Results + Notes

1. The Real Americans (Antonio Cesaro & Jack Swagger) [w/ Zeb Colter] defeated Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara when Cesaro pinned Cara following the NEUTRALIZER (9:48).

  • During the Match: Colter slapped Swagger to get him back into the zone after a rough beginning to the match. Swagger directed his anger at Cara instead of Colter but it could lead to something down the line if Colter continues to do that.

2. R-Truth [w/ Xavier Woods] defeated Fandango [w/ Summer Rae] via pinfall with the LIE DETECTOR (3:32).

  • During the Match: Woods sat in on commentary as he usually does for R-Truth matches. NXT Diva Emma was shown in the crowd dancing, but this time she was in the front row near the announce table so she’s getting closer to actually being part of the show.

3. Battle of Cleveland: Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz via pinfall with the ZIG ZAG (4:08).

  • Notes: Ziggler wore an old school Cavs jersey while Miz wore a Browns jersey for obvious Cleveland-related reasons.

4. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) defeated Ryback & Curtis Axel with the SUPERFLY SPLASH on Ryback (5:47).

5. Alberto Del Rio defeated Kofi Kingston via pinfall with a standing sidekick (13:35).

6. The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg & Billy Gunn) (c) and Cody Rhodes & Goldust fought to a No Contest when Brock Lesnar interfered (11:55); The New Age Outlaws retain the WWE World Tag Team Championship.

  • Before the Match: Dogg refuted claims that they became champs due to an Authority-led conspiracy and professed that they were just the better team. Cody Rhodes then decked him in the mouth.
  • Post-Match: Brock Lesnar took out Goldust with an F-5 then leveled Cody Rhodes with a series of chairshots as Paul Heyman explained that this is what happens when his client doesn’t get his way.

7. Cameron, Naomi, Nikki Bella, & Brie Bella defeated *WWE Divas Champion* AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka, Aksana, & Alicia Fox when Naomi pinned Lee (5:38).

8. John Cena, Daniel Bryan, & Sheamus defeated The Shield (*WWE U.S. Champion* Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns) via DQ when Bray Wyatt & The Wyatt Family interfered (23:59).

  • Note: Thanks to their win Cena, Bryan, & Sheamus have qualified for the WWE WHC Elimination Chamber match at next month’s Elimination Chamber PPV.
  • Post-Match: The good guys cleared the ring of the Wyatt Family and The Shield freaked out, throwing all sorts of furniture due to being screwed out of their match. Bryan led the crowd in “YES!” chants to close the show.

Important Segments + Notes

-The show opened with The Authority (Triple H & Stephanie McMahon) in the ring talking about the history-making Royal Rumble. Triple H referenced Rumble winner Batista as being his buddy, potentially hinting as a heel turn. Stephanie then announced that Randy Orton would defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship next month at Elimination Chamber in an Elimination Chamber match. Daniel Bryan interrupted to the joy of the crowd to build off of Pittsburgh hijacking the show the night before. Bryan said that he tried to get into the Royal Rumble match but was repeatedly denied, Triple H and Steph saying they did it for “his health”. Bryan then demanded to be put in the Elimination Chamber match. The Shield came out right on cue, Seth Rollins slipping over the barricade humorously, and beat down Bryan until John Cena and Sheamus made the save, setting up the main event. It was then later announced that the winning team would get entry into the Elimination Chamber match.

-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton addressed the WWE Universe about the current title situation (GM Brad Maddox introduced him to the ring and hung out ringside). He first put over his win over John Cena and his general superiority until Batista came out to interrupt. Batista vowed to become World Champ at Wrestlemania XXX. Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman then came out, and Heyman gave Maddox two options: 1) grant Lesnar a title match against Orton tonight or 2) have Lesnar face Batista to decide the actual #1 contender. Heyman said he wanted an answer tonight “or else” which he didn’t get, leading into Lesnar’s attack on Cody Rhodes & Goldust later in the show.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts was announced as the 2nd inductee into the 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame class.

Wade Barrett mocked Cleveland in his latest “Bad News” announcement.
