Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

TNA went full-Russo this week on IMPACT Wrestling featuring a tables match, a straitjacket match, and an “exhibition” match plus a four-way for the TNA World Heavyweight Title. That’s a lot of gimmicks for one show. Also on the card X-Division Champ Sanada and Tigre Uno began their Best of 3 Series over the title, The Beautiful People had their first official reunion match as a tag team, and more.

Results and notes come from James Caldwell‘s excellent report/analysis over at PWTorch.

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: The Impact Zone (Orlando, FL)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

The feud between Gunner and James Storm (possibly) reached its conclusion this week on IMPACT Wrestling as the two former friends faced off in an “Anything Goes” match to settle their dispute. Also on the show MVP made an announcement about the next World Title defense, champ Magnus teamed with associate Abyss to take on The WolvesVelvet Sky questioned Angelina Love about her attack of Madison Rayne the week before, and the duo of Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud took to the woods to find the (charismatic) enigmatic Willow.

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: The Impact Zone (Orlando, FL)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

The World Championship was on the line this week on IMPACT Wrestling as Magnus defended against Samoa Joe in a Lockdown rematch. Also on the show The Beautiful People reunited minus one member, TNA World Tag Team Champs The Bro Mans saw triple threat action, Gail Kim took on former bodyguard Lei’D Tapa, James Storm attacked Gunner‘s Dad, and Bully Ray headed to the TNA offices to speak with Dixie Carter…but was “Roodely” interrupted. See what I did there? Wakka wakka.

Results and notes from the episode come courtesy of Chris Shore‘s much more detailed report over at ProWrestling.net.

MATCH RESULTS/NOTES

1. Ethan Carter III defeated Bobby Lashley via DQ when Willow interfered (5:17).

  • Post-Match: Willow placed EC3’s leg in between a ladder but EC3 escaped before Willow could cause any actual damage.

2. Gail Kim defeated Lei’D Tapa via pinfall with EAT DEFEAT (Time Not Recorded).

  • Before the Match: Gail Kim announced that if she won, Lei’D Tapa would be forced to leave TNA.
  • Note: Due to the stipulation, Tapa is now gone from TNA. It appears to be legit as well, as Tapa tweeted that she was actually done with the company.

3. The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) (c) [w/ DJ Zema Ion] defeated The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) and *TNA X-Division Champion* Sanada & Tigre Uno to retain the TNA World Tag Team Titles (9:49).

4. Magnus (c) [w/ Abyss] defeated Samoa Joe [w/ MVP] via pinfall with the TOP ROPE ELBOWDROP to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Title (11:41).

  • Notes: Abyss and MVP were chained together at ringside. MVP eventually unchained himself but was taken out with a chair by Abyss. Abyss then hit Joe with a chair, allowing Magnus to score the victory.

SEGMENTS/NOTES

-The show began with a pier-six brawl between Abyss and Eric Young which began backstage and made its way to the ring. Abyss eventually got the upper hand, despite some brief interference from ODB, and choked EY out with a chain until officials finally broke it up. EY would be sent to the hospital, meaning that he would no longer be in Samoa Joe‘s corner chained to Abyss during the World Title match. Joe confronted MVP about this backstage and MVP offered to look for a replacement, Joe being wary because when MVP tries to help things go wrong. Eventually MVP just took on the role himself.

Gunner cut an in-ring promo talking about his military background and doting on his Dad, who was ringside. James Storm came out to interrupt. Eventually Storm handcuffed Gunner to the middle rope, forcing him to watch as Storm beat his Dad up, cracking a beer bottle over his head.

Angelina Love called Velvet Sky to the ring, and once again asked for a Beautiful People reunion. Sky accepted, then they called out Knockouts Champ Madison Rayne to complete the trio. Rayne said she was already treated poorly, and had outgrown the stable, turning down the reunion. Later on Love caught up with Rayne backstage and asked again. Rayne said she’d think about it, so Love attacked her instead, choking her and saying The Beautiful People were her and Sky, and that’s it.

Bully Ray traveled to TNA HQ to speak with Dixie Carter, having been invited by her. He said his piece in her office, but it turned out she wasn’t in the chair the entire time (?). Bobby Roode then ran in and laid Ray out, saying he was the one who had invited Ray and led him into a trap.

-A vignette followed Knux as he ventured home to check on family business and see a woman.

‘TNA IMPACT Wrestling’ 3/13/14 Results + Notes – Lockdown Fallout, Bully Ray Talks, Brittany Debuts, Angelina Love Returns

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: The Impact Zone (Orlando, FL)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

A week after helping Team MVP secure the win, and the company, at Lockdown Bully Ray had something to say this week on IMPACT Wrestling…but not before getting attacked by Bobby Roode earlier in the show. Also on the show new TNA Knockout Brittany (the former Santana Garrett) debuted, X-Division Champion Sanada teamed with Tigre Uno to take on The Bro Mans in non-title action, Mr. Anderson faced Samuel Shaw in a street fight, and in the main event Willow emerged to take on Rockstar Spud.

Results and notes come from James Caldwell‘s much more interesting and detailed recap/analysis over at PWTorch.

MATCH RESULTS/NOTES

1. Abyss defeated Samoa Joe via DQ when Eric Young interfered (9:33).

  • Later in the Show: Joe and EY caught up with one another backstage. EY said what happened to Abyss is his fault and it was his own responsibility to take care of it.

2. Brittany defeated Gail Kim [w/ Lei’D Tapa] via pinfall (2:05).

  • Post-Match: Kim berated Tapa until Tapa shoved her. Kim slapped her back, and Tapa attacked until they were broken up by security.

3. Non-Title Match: *TNA X-Division Champion* Sanada Tigre Uno defeated *TNA Tag Team Champions* The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) [w/ DJ Zema Ion] when Sanada pinned Robbie E with a moonsault (2:46).

  • Before the Match: The Great Muta was shown backstage giving Sanada advice and saying he was representing the Japanese wrestling industry.

4. Street Fight: Mr. Anderson defeated Samuel Shaw via pinfall with the MIC CHECK (3:54).

  • Earlier in the Show: Shaw revealed that he was carrying around a mannequin to represent Christy Hemme.
  • Notes: Anderson kissed the mannequin and threw it at Shaw, who freaked and left himself open to eat the Mic Check for the loss.

5. Willow defeated Rockstar Spud via DQ when Willow hit Spud with his umbrella (2:25).

  • Post-Match: Willow grabbed a ladder, beat Spud up with it, then hit a splash from the top to finish Dixie’s minion off. Bully Ray then made his way past Willow for the final segment of the show.

SEGMENTS/NOTES

-New majority owner MVP opened the show, saying Dixieland was now closed and went through his “Motivate, Validate, Participate” plan going forward because those are also his initials! World Champ Magnus made his way out and put over the “Reign of Magnus” still going on, saying that while Carter fumbled control of TNA he retained the World Title thanks to his new associate. He introduced Abyss out to the ring, new mask and all. He’s now motivated by money as well as destruction. Samoa Joe was then called out to the ring and a match between he and Abyss abruptly started.

Bully Ray arrived backstage, only to beaten up by Ethan Carter III, Rockstar Spud, The Bro Mans, and Zema Ion. Spud choked Ray with his own chain as Bobby Roode yelled at him, saying no one screws with him. Ray would brush himself off later and continue on.

A “Thank You Dixie” celebration was held in-ring by Rockstar Spud and Ethan Carter III, giant photo of Dixie Carter and everything sitting on an easel. Spud spoke on things, choking back tears, and ran a “Thank You Dixie” propaganda video. MVP came out and said it was time for Spud to fulfill his obligations as a wrestler, which Spud protested because he’s so tiny. MVP eventually talked some confidence into him then announced that Spud would face Willow tonight. Carter laughed so MVP introduced his opponent for next week…Bobby Lashley, who is now signed with the company. Lashley smashed the Dixie photo over Spud, then stared Carter down to end the segment.

-The returning Angelina Love made her way out to the ring, calling out her former running buddy Velvet Sky. Love called for a Beautiful People reunion but Sky said she needed more time to think about it, as she wanted to move forward instead of go backwards.

Bully Ray made his way out immediately following the main event for the closing segment. Ray said he did what he did at Lockdown to save Bobby Roode from himself, preventing another “Dixie Carter”. Roode made his way out and a brawl ensued, ending with Ray powerbombing Roode through a table in the center of the ring. Ray stood over Roode to conclude the episode.

Last night TNA held its first PPV of 2014, Lockdown, which featured a Lethal Lockdown main event for majority control of TNA. Check out the results and notes from the show below, courtesy of ImpactWrestling.com. All matches took place inside of a steel cage so keep that in mind when reading this.

MATCH RESULTS/NOTES

1. *TNA X-Division Champion* SanadaYasu, & The Great Muta defeated Chris Sabin Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) when Sanada pinned Daniels with a moonsault.

  • Notes: Yasu is Wrestle-1 star Yasufumi Nakanoue.

2. Escape Rules: Samuel Shaw defeated Mr. Anderson.

  • Before the Match: Shaw came out to the ring, got upset that Christy Hemme wasn’t around, and climbed to the top of the cage demanding to see her before Anderson broke up his sort-of suicide attempt to get the match started.
  • The Finish: Mr. Anderson had the match won by escaping the cage, but the ref was out cold at the time. Christy Hemme, who made her way ringside, was then chased into the cage by Shaw so Anderson went back into the cage to rescue her. Shaw then knocked Anderson out, escaping the cage to win the match now that the ref was awake, and chased Hemme to the back.

3. Tigre Uno defeated Manik via pinfall with the SABRETOOTH (Corkscrew Splash).

  • Note: This was Uno’s official TNA debut after wrestling a few matches on Xplosion. His ring name in Mexico was Extreme Tiger.

7. Lethal Lockdown: Team MVP (MVP, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, & Willow) defeated Team Dixie (Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Robbie E, & Jessie Godderz) when MVP pinned Roode with a YAKUZA KICK.

  • Before the Match: Dixie Carter revealed her “Insurance Policy” to be Bully Ray, who acted as special referee.
  • The Finish: Ray turned on Dixie, putting Roode through a table and allowing MVP to score the victory. He then put Roode through another table as Team MVP celebrated their victory.
  • Note: With this win MVP gains majority control of TNA so a new era begins or whatever!

OTHER NOTES

Ethan Carter III came out and declared an “Open Challenge” since his original opponent, Kurt Angle, was injured and couldn’t compete. The challenge was answered by Bobby Lashley who beat down Carter until Carter retreated. The match was never official.

Updated ‘TNA Lockdown 2014’ Lineup; Kurt Angle Out, One Match Added, Six-Man Tag Team Changed

lockdown 2014

This Sunday TNA presents Lockdown live from Miami, FL and it’ll be without one of the matches it has been hyping for weeks; Kurt Angle announced via Twitter that he wouldn’t be facing Ethan Carter III due to needing knee surgery, playing off that it was EC3’s fault for the injury. EC3 then took to Twitter and announced that he will be hosting a press conference during “Fan Interaction” to talk about the injury…and perhaps name Angle’s replacement. In addition to these changes, the six-man tag team match featuring The Great Muta has changed as Tigre Uno will now be in singles action against Manik; his replacement in the match will be Yasufumi Nakanoue.

Got all that? Cool. Peep the updated lineup for Sunday’s PPV below and keep in mind all matches will be contested in a steel cage.

  • Main Event: Magnus (c) Vs. Samoa Joe for the TNA World Heavyweight Title
  • Lethal Lockdown: Team MVP (MVP, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, & Jeff Hardy/Willow) Vs. Team Roode (Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Robbie E, & Jessie Godderz); winning team gets controlling interest in TNA, Roode gets 10% ownership if Team Dixie scores the victory. Roode’s team also has the man advantage due to his victory on IMPACT Wrestling.
  • Last Man Standing: Gunner Vs. James Storm
  • Madison Rayne (c) Vs. Gail Kim for the TNA Knockouts Title
  • Mr. Anderson Vs. Samuel Shaw
  • Tigre Uno Vs. Manik
  • The Great Muta, *TNA X-Division Champion* Senada, & Yusufumi Nakanoue Vs. Chris Sabin & Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian)

‘TNA IMPACT Wrestling’ 3/6/14 Results + Notes – Final Lockdown Hype, Kenny King Resurfaces, Roode Vs. Richards

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: Wembly Arena (London, England)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

TNA bids goodbye to England and hello to Lockdown this week on IMPACT Wrestling as the company makes the final push for Sunday’s PPV. On this week’s show Team Dixie and Team MVP battle for Lethal Lockdown advantage, Samuel Shaw gets his creep on (as usual), six Knockouts go head to head in trios action, and World Champ Magnus has a face to face with challenger Samoa Joe three days before they lock horns.

Results and notes from the episode come courtesy of James Caldwell‘s much more detailed and interesting recap/analysis over at PWTorch.

MATCH RESULTS/NOTES

1. Elimination Match: Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Robbie E [w/ Jessie Godderz & DJ Zema Ion] fought to a no-contest with MVP The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) (9:00).

  • Notes: This match was to decide which team got the advantage at Lethal Lockdown but was thrown out when Aries continued to beat down Richards after being DQed, hurting his shoulder. Roode and Richards were the two men remaining at the end.
  • Later On: Earl Hebner checked on Richards in the trainer’s room, and told him he had one hour and then he would face Roode one-on-one to decide the LL advantage.

2. Eric Young and Samuel Shaw fought to an apparent no-contest (2:20).

  • Notes: Anderson handled the introductions to shield Hemme away from the creepy grasp of Shaw. Shaw threw a drink in EY’s face, causing the bell to ring, then attacked Anderson. He choked Anderson out then said he would claim what was rightfully his, meaning Hemme who was then shown backstage scared out of her mind.

3. *TNA Knockouts Champion* Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky, ODB defeated Gail KimLei’D Tapa, & Alpha Female [w/ Chris Sabin] when Sky pinned Female (4:10).

  • Note: No bell actually sounded to start the match but it did end with a pinfall so that must have been just a communication snafu.

4. Bobby Roode defeated Davey Richards [w/ Eddie Edwards MVP] via submission with the CROSSFACE (5:24).

  • Note: Team Roode now has the advantage going into the Lethal Lockdown match this Sunday.

SEGMENTS/NOTES

Bobby Roode and The Bro Mans [w/ DJ Zema Ion] made their way out to open the show. He talked about his 10% ownership of TNA should his team win Sunday, which brought out Austin Aries (still wearing the X-Division Title because this was taped before he lost it to Senada in Japan). Aries demanded half of Roode’s 10% stake if they win. Robbie E and Jessie Godderz also called for a piece but he shut them down and said all that matters is winning. MVP then made his way out with The Wolves but was interrupted by Dixie Carter before he could announce his mystery partner for Lockdown. After she said her piece, MVP announced that Jeff Hardy would be part of Team MVP this Sunday. Roode then got mouthy so MVP popped him, leading to the opening six-man tag team match.

-After his match with EY, Samuel Shaw spent the show looking for Christy Hemme, including going through the Knockouts locker room and scaring the hell out of Velvet Sky. Shaw thought he found her in the makeup room, but it was just Mr. Anderson wearing a wig. Anderson punched Shaw then drew circles on his face with lipstick telling him to leave Hemme alone. Anderson walked off and Shaw clutched the red wig, saying he’d see both on Sunday.

Ethan Carter III came out to the ring and called Kurt Angle out. Angle eventually showed up after some insults were thrown, in street clothes and limping. Carter bailed, then came back out and put his leglock on Angle until a ref finally broke it up.

Kenny King reemerged via vignette, showing him living it up in Las Vegas. His nickname is “King of the Night” now.

-Another Willow promo aired. It’s likely that Willow will show up at Lockdown instead of Jeff Hardy proper.

James Storm and Gunner had an in-ring back and forth that devolved into a brawl. Storm got the final shot and left the ring, leaving Gunner to gather his thoughts. They meet one-on-one at Lockdown.

-The show concluded with TNA World Champ Magnus and Samoa Joe having a face-to-face before their big match on Sunday. They did a whole lot of jawing back and forth before a brawl broke out. Joe locked Magnus in the rear-naked choke and Magnus frantically tapped to conclude the episode.

Updated ‘TNA Lockdown 2014’ Lineup; The Great Muta to Compete in 6-Man Tag

lockdown 2014

UPDATE (3/7): The lineup has once again been changed. CLICK HERE for the updated card.

Admittedly TNA coverage has been very light since the new year, but Lockdown has quietly (or not so quietly for those who still watch the show) amassed an interesting lineup. It has been made even more interesting as it has been announced that The Great Muta will actually be wrestling on the show in a 6-man tag team match, teaming with Wrestle-1 star Senada and the officially debuting Tigre Uno to face Chris Sabin & Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian). Muta and Senada were originally supposed to just make an appearance at Lockdown as part of an ongoing partnership between TNA and Wrestle-1 but now that he’s competing…that’s got me interested. Despite how terrible his Wrestle Kingdom 8 match was.

Here is the announced lineup so far for Lockdown, which takes place on March 9th in Miami, FL and live on PPV. All of the matches will once again be contested inside a steel cage after deviating from the format for last year’s event.

  • Main Event: Magnus (c) Vs. Samoa Joe for the TNA World Heavyweight Title
  • Lethal Lockdown: Team MVP (MVP, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, & ???) Vs. Team Dixie (Bobby Roode, *TNA X-Division Champion* Austin Aries, Robbie E, & Jessie Godderz) for controlling interest in TNA.
  • Madison Rayne (c) Vs. Gail Kim for the TNA Knockouts Title
  • Gunner Vs. James Storm
  • Kurt Angle Vs. Ethan Carter III
  • Mr. Anderson Vs. Samuel Shaw
  • The Great Muta, Senada, Tigre Uno Vs. Chris Sabin, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: Wembley Arena (London, England)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

IMPACT Wrestling moves to London this week as MVP takes on Bobby Roode in the main event, with Austin Aries as special guest referee. Also on the show Kurt Angle finally accepts his TNA Hall Of Fame induction, Samoa Joe faces Magnus‘ hand-picked opponent, and Gunner confronts James Storm about last week’s betrayal.

Results and notes from this week’s episode were gathered from James Caldwell‘s much more informative recap/analysis over at PWTorch.

MATCH RESULTS/NOTES

1. Triple Threat: The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) [w/ Zema Ion] defeated *TNA Tag Team Champions* The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) and Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) (5:27).

  • Before the Match: The Bro Mans asked Bobby Roode to join his Lethal Lockdown team to get revenge on The Wolves. Roode said they were in…if they could win the triple threat match.
  • Note: Since they got the victory The Bro Mans will join Roode on the “Team Dixie” Lethal Lockdown team at Lockdown.

2. Ethan Carter III defeated Doug Williams via submission (1:21).

  • Post-Match: Carter kept the submission applied until the refs finally forced him off.

3. Samoa Joe defeated Bad Bones [w/ *TNA World Champion* Magnus] via submission with the REAR NAKED CHOKE (1:18).

  • Before the Match: Magnus introduced Bad Bones as his handpicked opponent for Joe.

4. Lei’D Tapa [w/ Gail Kim] & Alpha Female [w/ Chris Sabin] defeated *TNA Knockouts Champion* Madison Rayne Velvet Sky when Tapa pinned Rayne (2:32).

  • Post-Match: A brawl broke out until ODB came out to make the save for the good guys.

5. Bobby Roode defeated MVP via pinfall with the ROODE BOMB (9:38).

  • Notes: Austin Aries was the special guest ref and cost MVP the match.
  • Post-Match: Aries “checked” on MVP as Roode looked on a bit confused at what happened.

SEGMENTS + NOTES

Kurt Angle was inducted into the TNA HOF by Jeremy Borash but his speech was cut short by Ethan Carter III. After some jawing back and forth it was announced that Angle/EC3 will meet at Lockdown.

Gunner confronted James Storm in the ring about what had happened last week. Storm said he attacked Gunner to give him a taste of what it was like when Gunner stole the TNA World Title shot away from him. Storm also took offense to Gunner giving him “scraps” (the Tag Title shot briefcase) and making his name off of Storm. Gunner played up his military service and Storm belittled it, saying no one gives a damn and he owes him nothing. The two then brawled to end the segment. The two would later be seen brawling once more backstage, and these two will duke it out at Lockdown.

Samuel Shaw invited Christy Hemme to meet him in the ring. He says he’s here to “protect” her from other men and their desires, then out came Mr. Anderson to interrupt, telling him to shut up and calling him creepy. Shaw said he’s never done anything creepy to Hemme but she’s a woman who would definitely like that to happen to her. Hemme slapped Shaw in the face and Anderson ran in to try and prevent any further damage. Instead Shaw got the better of him and knocked him out with a Sleeperhold.

-The third Willow promo in three weeks aired, continuing to build the hype.

Tigre Uno was announced to be appearing at Lockdown. He’s better known as Extreme Tiger and worked a couple of Xplosion matches under the “Ultimate Tiger” name.

  • Notes: James Storm turned heel, hitting Gunner with a Last Call Superkick to set up the pinfall from Magnus.

Stories/Notes

Bobby Roode came out to cut a promo, saying that the business had beaten him down. Dixie Carter made her way out and made him an offer: captain her Lethal Lockdown team at Lockdown and get 10% ownership of TNA if/when Team Dixie gets the victory. Roode accepted the offer then warned Carter that he’d get revenge if she somehow screwed him over.

Samuel Shaw creeped on Christy Hemme all night, eventually leading him into attacking Mr. Anderson and knocking her unconscious. He took her to a room where she woke up and asked where Anderson was. Shaw then shooed the cameraman away, leaving her fate in doubt.

MVP asked Austin Aries to captain his Lethal Lockdown team. Aries said he’d consider it and give him an answer later.

-The show opened with a pier-six brawl between MVP The Wolves and Magnus, Rockstar Spud, & Ethan Carter III.
