impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: Wembly Arena (London, England)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

TNA bids goodbye to England and hello to Lockdown this week on IMPACT Wrestling as the company makes the final push for Sunday’s PPV. On this week’s show Team Dixie and Team MVP battle for Lethal Lockdown advantage, Samuel Shaw gets his creep on (as usual), six Knockouts go head to head in trios action, and World Champ Magnus has a face to face with challenger Samoa Joe three days before they lock horns.

Results and notes from the episode come courtesy of James Caldwell‘s much more detailed and interesting recap/analysis over at PWTorch.

MATCH RESULTS/NOTES

1. Elimination Match: Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Robbie E [w/ Jessie Godderz & DJ Zema Ion] fought to a no-contest with MVP The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) (9:00).

  • Notes: This match was to decide which team got the advantage at Lethal Lockdown but was thrown out when Aries continued to beat down Richards after being DQed, hurting his shoulder. Roode and Richards were the two men remaining at the end.
  • Later On: Earl Hebner checked on Richards in the trainer’s room, and told him he had one hour and then he would face Roode one-on-one to decide the LL advantage.

2. Eric Young and Samuel Shaw fought to an apparent no-contest (2:20).

  • Notes: Anderson handled the introductions to shield Hemme away from the creepy grasp of Shaw. Shaw threw a drink in EY’s face, causing the bell to ring, then attacked Anderson. He choked Anderson out then said he would claim what was rightfully his, meaning Hemme who was then shown backstage scared out of her mind.

3. *TNA Knockouts Champion* Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky, ODB defeated Gail KimLei’D Tapa, & Alpha Female [w/ Chris Sabin] when Sky pinned Female (4:10).

  • Note: No bell actually sounded to start the match but it did end with a pinfall so that must have been just a communication snafu.

4. Bobby Roode defeated Davey Richards [w/ Eddie Edwards MVP] via submission with the CROSSFACE (5:24).

  • Note: Team Roode now has the advantage going into the Lethal Lockdown match this Sunday.

SEGMENTS/NOTES

Bobby Roode and The Bro Mans [w/ DJ Zema Ion] made their way out to open the show. He talked about his 10% ownership of TNA should his team win Sunday, which brought out Austin Aries (still wearing the X-Division Title because this was taped before he lost it to Senada in Japan). Aries demanded half of Roode’s 10% stake if they win. Robbie E and Jessie Godderz also called for a piece but he shut them down and said all that matters is winning. MVP then made his way out with The Wolves but was interrupted by Dixie Carter before he could announce his mystery partner for Lockdown. After she said her piece, MVP announced that Jeff Hardy would be part of Team MVP this Sunday. Roode then got mouthy so MVP popped him, leading to the opening six-man tag team match.

-After his match with EY, Samuel Shaw spent the show looking for Christy Hemme, including going through the Knockouts locker room and scaring the hell out of Velvet Sky. Shaw thought he found her in the makeup room, but it was just Mr. Anderson wearing a wig. Anderson punched Shaw then drew circles on his face with lipstick telling him to leave Hemme alone. Anderson walked off and Shaw clutched the red wig, saying he’d see both on Sunday.

Ethan Carter III came out to the ring and called Kurt Angle out. Angle eventually showed up after some insults were thrown, in street clothes and limping. Carter bailed, then came back out and put his leglock on Angle until a ref finally broke it up.

Kenny King reemerged via vignette, showing him living it up in Las Vegas. His nickname is “King of the Night” now.

-Another Willow promo aired. It’s likely that Willow will show up at Lockdown instead of Jeff Hardy proper.

James Storm and Gunner had an in-ring back and forth that devolved into a brawl. Storm got the final shot and left the ring, leaving Gunner to gather his thoughts. They meet one-on-one at Lockdown.

-The show concluded with TNA World Champ Magnus and Samoa Joe having a face-to-face before their big match on Sunday. They did a whole lot of jawing back and forth before a brawl broke out. Joe locked Magnus in the rear-naked choke and Magnus frantically tapped to conclude the episode.

TNA ‘IMPACT Wrestling’ 2/27/14 Results + Notes – Angle’s HOF Induction, MVP Vs. Roode

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: Wembley Arena (London, England)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

IMPACT Wrestling moves to London this week as MVP takes on Bobby Roode in the main event, with Austin Aries as special guest referee. Also on the show Kurt Angle finally accepts his TNA Hall Of Fame induction, Samoa Joe faces Magnus‘ hand-picked opponent, and Gunner confronts James Storm about last week’s betrayal.

Results and notes from this week’s episode were gathered from James Caldwell‘s much more informative recap/analysis over at PWTorch.

MATCH RESULTS/NOTES

1. Triple Threat: The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) [w/ Zema Ion] defeated *TNA Tag Team Champions* The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) and Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) (5:27).

  • Before the Match: The Bro Mans asked Bobby Roode to join his Lethal Lockdown team to get revenge on The Wolves. Roode said they were in…if they could win the triple threat match.
  • Note: Since they got the victory The Bro Mans will join Roode on the “Team Dixie” Lethal Lockdown team at Lockdown.

2. Ethan Carter III defeated Doug Williams via submission (1:21).

  • Post-Match: Carter kept the submission applied until the refs finally forced him off.

3. Samoa Joe defeated Bad Bones [w/ *TNA World Champion* Magnus] via submission with the REAR NAKED CHOKE (1:18).

  • Before the Match: Magnus introduced Bad Bones as his handpicked opponent for Joe.

4. Lei’D Tapa [w/ Gail Kim] & Alpha Female [w/ Chris Sabin] defeated *TNA Knockouts Champion* Madison Rayne Velvet Sky when Tapa pinned Rayne (2:32).

  • Post-Match: A brawl broke out until ODB came out to make the save for the good guys.

5. Bobby Roode defeated MVP via pinfall with the ROODE BOMB (9:38).

  • Notes: Austin Aries was the special guest ref and cost MVP the match.
  • Post-Match: Aries “checked” on MVP as Roode looked on a bit confused at what happened.

SEGMENTS + NOTES

Kurt Angle was inducted into the TNA HOF by Jeremy Borash but his speech was cut short by Ethan Carter III. After some jawing back and forth it was announced that Angle/EC3 will meet at Lockdown.

Gunner confronted James Storm in the ring about what had happened last week. Storm said he attacked Gunner to give him a taste of what it was like when Gunner stole the TNA World Title shot away from him. Storm also took offense to Gunner giving him “scraps” (the Tag Title shot briefcase) and making his name off of Storm. Gunner played up his military service and Storm belittled it, saying no one gives a damn and he owes him nothing. The two then brawled to end the segment. The two would later be seen brawling once more backstage, and these two will duke it out at Lockdown.

Samuel Shaw invited Christy Hemme to meet him in the ring. He says he’s here to “protect” her from other men and their desires, then out came Mr. Anderson to interrupt, telling him to shut up and calling him creepy. Shaw said he’s never done anything creepy to Hemme but she’s a woman who would definitely like that to happen to her. Hemme slapped Shaw in the face and Anderson ran in to try and prevent any further damage. Instead Shaw got the better of him and knocked him out with a Sleeperhold.

-The third Willow promo in three weeks aired, continuing to build the hype.

Tigre Uno was announced to be appearing at Lockdown. He’s better known as Extreme Tiger and worked a couple of Xplosion matches under the “Ultimate Tiger” name.

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: Manchester Arena (Manchester, England)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

It’s World Title action this week on IMPACT Wrestling as Magnus defends the gold against Gunner in the main event. Also on the show The Wolves face Bad InfluenceDixie Carter gives Bobby Roode an enticing offer, Samuel Shaw goes overboard in his obsession with Christy Hemme, and Samoa Joe eats The Bro Mans and Zema Ion alive.  ALIVE.

As always (or until I’m yelled at), results and notes are gathered from James Caldwell‘s much more interesting and detailed recap/analysis over at PW Torch.

Match Results/Notes

1. Handicap Match: Samoa Joe defeated Zema Ion & *TNA World Tag Team Champions* The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) when he made Ion tap to the REAR-NAKED CHOKE (3:40).

2. Street Fight (Non-Title): Gail Kim [w/ Lei’D Tapa] defeated *TNA Knockouts Champion* Madison Rayne via pinfall(4:17).

3. The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) defeated Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) when Edwards pinned Daniels (5:45).

4. No-DQ Match: Magnus (c) defeated Gunner via pinfall to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Title (16:36).

  • Notes: James Storm turned heel, hitting Gunner with a Last Call Superkick to set up the pinfall from Magnus.

Stories/Notes

Bobby Roode came out to cut a promo, saying that the business had beaten him down. Dixie Carter made her way out and made him an offer: captain her Lethal Lockdown team at Lockdown and get 10% ownership of TNA if/when Team Dixie gets the victory. Roode accepted the offer then warned Carter that he’d get revenge if she somehow screwed him over.

Samuel Shaw creeped on Christy Hemme all night, eventually leading him into attacking Mr. Anderson and knocking her unconscious. He took her to a room where she woke up and asked where Anderson was. Shaw then shooed the cameraman away, leaving her fate in doubt.

MVP asked Austin Aries to captain his Lethal Lockdown team. Aries said he’d consider it and give him an answer later.

-The show opened with a pier-six brawl between MVP The Wolves and Magnus, Rockstar Spud, & Ethan Carter III. When The Wolves went to attack Magnus and EC3, the former bailed leaving the latter to bear the punishment. EC3 then confronted Magnus in the back about it, increasing the tension between both men.

-Speaking of Ethan Carter III he stated that he would announce the end of Kurt Angle’s career during Angle’s HOF induction ceremony next week.

-Another Willow vignette aired.

TNA ‘IMPACT Wrestling’ 2/13/14 Results + Notes – Anderson Vs. Ray in a Casket Match, MVP and The Wolves Wrestle, Sabin Vs. Sky (Almost)

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: Manchester Arena (Manchester, England)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

TNA moves to Manchester for this week’s IMPACT Wrestling, which features the in-ring debuts of MVP and The WolvesJames Storm & Gunner making up, Abyss/Joseph Park confronting Eric Young, and in the main event Mr. Anderson taking on Bully Ray in a Casket Match.

Results and notes come courtesy of James Caldwell‘s much more interesting and detailed recap/analysis over PW Torch.

Match Results/Notes

1. Ladder Match: James Storm & Gunner defeated *TNA World Champion* Mangus Ethan Carter III, grabbing both the World Title shot briefcase and the Tag Team Title shot briefcase (8:56).

  • Notes: This was originally Gunner Vs. EC3 for both briefcases but Magnus showed up and interfered, leading to Storm coming out to even the odds. MVP then came out and announced that it was now a tag team match, holla holla holla.

2. Samoa Joe & The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) defeated Zema Ion & *TNA World Tag Team Champions* The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) when Joe made Ion tap to the REAR-NAKED CHOKE (5:33).

3. MVP defeated Rockstar Spud via pinfall with the DRIVE-BY KICK (0:57).

4. Casket Match: Mr. Anderson defeated Bully Ray (12:47).

Segments/Notes

-The show opened with Dixie Carter, Magnus, Ethan Carter III, Rockstar Spud in the ring. Lots of trash talk until MVP and Samoa Joe emerged. Gunner then showed up and announced he was cashing in his World Title shot next week, with the winner facing Joe at Lockdown. Carter said he may not have the briefcase, announcing that he would face EC3 tonight with the briefcase on the line. MVP one-upped her and said EC3 would also put his Tag Title briefcase on the line. Eventually it was decided this would happen in a ladder match, leading into the first match of the night.

Abyss, not wearing his mask, called Eric Young out to the ring. Abyss laid into him for what he had done, saying he couldn’t be the monster anymore and needed help. He told Young that they weren’t friends and he needed to find someone who actually understood him so he could sort all of his stuff out/fix EY’s mistake in revealing Abyss and Joseph Park to be the same person.

Samuel Shaw caught up with Christy Hemme backstage. He was totally cool with keeping things professional but creepily took in her scent when she walked off. Hemme, who ended up staying back to see what he would do, was disgusted and creeped out.

Chris Sabin and Velvet Sky made their entrances for their match. Sabin called her a skank and avoided a low blow with a cup, but Sky managed to hit him once again after he removed it. Out came an amazonian woman who attacked Sky and whipped her around in a Full Nelson until she passed out. Sabin covered as the woman made a 3-count and they left the ring together. She wasn’t referred to by name on the show but she’s known as Alpha Female in other companies.

Bobby Roode was escorted out of the building by security after getting into Dixie Carter‘s face earlier in the show.

-A “Willow” vignette aired, which was just Jeff Hardy in his old OMEGA gimmick being creepy and weird. Funnier than it should have been. See for yourself.

MVP and Dixie Carter met in Dixie’s office at the conclusion of the show. Carter offered to buy out MVP, but he didn’t go for it saying he came here to make TNA a better company. He then proposed a “Lethal Lockdown” match at Lockdown between Team Dixie and Team MVP for total control of TNA. Carter was not having it and MVP said some ominous words before leaving and concluding the episode.

‘TNA Impact Wrestling’ 2/6/14 Results + Notes – Angle Vs. Magnus, Monster’s Ball, MVP Speaks

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: SSE Hydro (Glasgow, Scotland)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Jeremy Borash

After revealing himself as the mystery investor at the end of last week’s show, MVP breaks his silence this week on IMPACT Wrestling and announces his intentions. Also on the show Abyss faces Eric Young in a Monster’s Ball match, Bobby Roode faces Samoa Joe for Joe’s #1 contendership, Bully Ray makes short work of Curry Man, and Austin Aries defends the X-Division Title against Zema Ion.

Results and notes from the show come courtesy of James Caldwell‘s much more interesting and detailed recap/analysis over at PW Torch.

Match Results + Notes

1. Monster’s Ball: Abyss defeated Eric Young via pinfall with the BLACK HOLE SLAM (9:37).

  • Before the Match: Abyss and EY started brawling backstage and it eventually spilled out to the ring where the match officially started.
  • Notes: Towards the end Young unmasked Abyss, revealing him to be Joseph Park. A stunned Abyss then hit Young with the Black Hole Slam to get the victory.
  • Post-Match: Abyss stared into a piece of broken mirror, in shock that he is actually Park.

2. Austin Aries (c) defeated Zema Ion [w/ *TNA Tag Team Champions* The Bro Mans] via pinfall with the BRAINBUSTER to retain the TNA X-Division Title (2:11).

  • Before the Match: Aries came out in street clothes and talked about winning every title in TNA. He then vowed to once again cash in his X-Division Title for a World Title shot. He was interrupted by The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) who distracted him long enough for Zema Ion to hit him from behind with the Feast or Fired briefcase. Ion then cashed it in for his title shot.

3. Non-Title Match: Kurt Angle defeated *TNA World Champion* Magnus via DQ when Ethan Carter III interfered (2:30).

  • Post-Match: Carter took a chair to Angle’s hurt left knee and continued abusing it until the ref finally pulled him off. Angle was stretchered out of the ringside area as Carter watched with no remorse.

4. #1 Contender’s Match: Samoa Joe defeated Bobby Roode via submission with the REAR-NAKED CHOKE (6:52).

  • Earlier in the Show: Roode came to Dixie Carter looking for her to sign a contract giving him the title match at Lockdown. Carter instead put him in a #1 contender’s match against Joe, which pissed him off.
  • Note: With this win Joe moves on to challenge Magnus for the TNA World Title at Lockdown in March.

News + Notes

MVP broke his silence in an in-ring promo, saying that he had invested money into TNA because he loved wrestling and didn’t want the company to fall victim to Dixie Carter’s shenanigans. He later met with Carter (and Rockstar Spud) during the show’s concluding segment, saying that he planned to be hands-on and that the party was over for Carter and company.

Curry Man came out to wrestle a match but instead Bully Ray piledrove him then placed him in a casket to send a message to Mr. Anderson.

Chris Sabin met with Velvet Sky in a purple room backstage, broke up with her, then challenged her to a match and left her crying.

-A video played of Christy Hemme telling Samuel Shaw backstage that they need to keep things professional, put off by his weirdness. Shaw said he understood then made a creep face after she left.

The Wolves were only seen at the beginning of the show, escorting MVP into the building.

‘TNA Impact Wrestling’ 1/30/14 Results + Notes – Mystery Investor Revealed, Joe/Angle Vs. Magnus/EC3,

impact-wrestling-generic

Venue: The SSE Hydro (Glasgow, Scotland)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Jeremy Borash

TNA’s UK tour continued this week on IMPACT Wrestling as TNA’s “mystery investor” was revealed, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle fought for their jobs (and a potential title shot), Abyss and Eric Young challenged The Bro Mans for the Tag Team Titles, and Bully Ray made an interesting challenge to blood enemy Mr. Anderson.

Read on for results and notes from the show, gathered from James Caldwell‘s much more detailed and interesting recap/analysis over at PW Torch.

Match Results + Notes

1. *TNA Knockouts Champion* Madison Rayne & Velvet Sky defeated Gail Kim & Lei’D Tapa when Sky pinned Kim following IN YOUR FACE (1:54).

  • Notes: The Rayne/Sky team was a “Beautiful People” reunion and TNA hyped it as such with a look back at their former partnership.
  • Post-Match: Chris Sabin came to the ring, saying he has tried to talk to Sky for a week but she hasn’t said anything despite still being his girlfriend. Sabin offered her a chance to apologize but instead Sky dumped him.

2. James Storm & Gunner defeated Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) when Gunner pinned Kazarian following a flying headbutt (8:01).

  • Before the Match: Storm and Gunner had an in-ring segment where they seemingly patched things up and reformed their team/mended their friendship. Bad Influence interrupted and challenged them to a match, asking for Gunner to put his World Title shot briefcase on the line if he trusted Storm so much. GunStorm accepted and the impromptu match happened…obviously.
  • Note: Gunner’s World Title briefcase was on the line.

3. The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) (c) [w/ DJ Zema Ion] defeated Abyss & Eric Young by DQ to retain the TNA World Tag Team Titles when Abyss attacked the ref (6:00).

  • Post-Match: Abyss left the ring and made his way up the aisle until EY stopped him and said there was still one final experiment (referencing the ongoing Park/Abyss story). He challenged Abyss to a Monster’s Ball match next week which caused Abyss to smile. Presumably that means he accepted the challenge.

4. Samoa Joe Kurt Angle defeated *TNA World Heavyweight Champion* Magnus Ethan Carter III when Joe made Magnus tap to the REAR-NAKED CHOKE (11:04).

  • The Finish: Carter accidentally distracted Magnus, allowing Joe to lock in the choke for the victory. Seems to be a little feud brewing there.
  • Note: Since Joe made Magnus tap he’s now the #1 contender for the TNA World Title.
  • Post-Match: Joe got on the mic and told Magnus to shine the belt real nice for him because he’s going to kill him for it. Angle then told Dixie Carter, who had made her way to ringside with Rockstar Spud after the match, to get out her checkbook because it was time for him to get inducted into the TNA Hall Of Fame, telling her to bring the investor as well. Carter freaked about the investor and demanded to see who he/she was. The investor was revealed to be former WWE star MVP who appeared on the entrance stage to end the show.

Segments + Notes

-The show opened with a backstage brawl between Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Ethan Carter III, Rockstar Spud, and Magnus. We then cut to the arena proper where Magnus, EC3, and Spud made their way out. Magnus heeled on the Scotland crowd and then said he beat Sting all by himself last week. Carter interrupted and asked if Magnus really thought he did this on his own but before that could go any further Angle and Joe interrupted. They cleared the ring then Angle bemoaned the fact Sting was now gone and how Magnus the “paper champion” could turn against them after they let him into the Main Event Mafia. Magnus felt threatened and called for a tag team match, saying if he and EC3 won Angle and Joe would also leave TNA forever, and Joe raised the stakes by saying if either he or Angle got the win on Magnus himself they would become the new #1 contender to the TNA World Title. Dixie Carter came out and tried to talk Magnus out of it but he was dead set on this happening.

Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe took their frustrations out on Bobby Roode backstage, the man who helped Magnus get rid of AJ Styles and Sting due to his interference. Roode later barged into Dixie Carter‘s office and said he wanted a title shot at Lockdown for his troubles and until she gave him an answer he would do her no more favors.

Rockstar Spud vowed to get The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) to spill about the “mystery investor”. They came out in black suits and Spud tried to press them to no avail. Spud got angry and tried to big time them by bringing up that he works for Dixie Carter. Spud slapped Richards who felt nothing then they took him out with a double team move of some sort. Edwards got on the mic and said everyone would find out the investor’s identity at the same time and also announced that if anyone interfered in the main event they would be fired.

-A video played from “Earlier in the Week” of Samuel Shaw and Christy Hemme hanging out in his house. Hemme wanted to take a tour of the place and unbeknownst to her Shaw took a lock of her hair. We then saw a different room in the house completely adorned in Hemme memorabilia. Shaw kissed a picture of Hemme in the room then creepily said he would join her in a minute. It should be noted that Hemme was doing all of the ring announcing and was apparently never told about this creepy footage.

Bully Ray wheeled a coffin to the ring and challenged Mr. Anderson to a Casket Match. Anderson came out, Ray threatened his kids some more, then he slammed the lid of the coffin into Ray’s face. Anderson hit Ray with the GREEN BAY PLUNGE inside the ring and hit him with a chair a few times until Ray got out of dodge. I guess this match is on for the future.

‘TNA Genesis: Week 2’ Results + Notes – Magnus Vs. Sting, Angle Vs. Roode, Aries Vs. Sabin

tna genesis

Venue: Von Braun Center (Huntsville, AL)

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

Week 2 of TNA’s Genesis special saw Magnus defend the World Title against Sting with Sting’s contract hanging in the balance, Chris Sabin defending the X-Division Title against Austin Aries while Velvet Sky was locked in a cage, and Kurt Angle facing Bobby Roode in a different sort of cage.

Results and notes come courtesy of James Caldwell‘s much more detailed and interesting recap/coverage over at PWTorch.

Match Results + Notes

1. World Title Shot on a Pole: Gunner defeated James Storm to retain possession of his World Title shot briefcase (5:40).

  • Notes: Storm had the case but “fumbled” it when Gunner delivered an electric chair. Gunner then scrambled, grabbed the case, and was declared the winner.

2. Austin Aries defeated Chris Sabin (c) via pinfall with the BRAINBUSTER to win the TNA X-Division Title (5:10).

  • Notes: Velvet Sky was locked in a cage at ringside. She apparently had a bag of weapons nearby but when Sabin opened it up to use something, all that was in there was a teddy bear.

3. Cage Match: Kurt Angle defeated Bobby Roode by escaping the cage (14:19).

  • Notes: With this win Angle has earned the right to go into the TNA Hall Of Fame. He also performed his signature top of the cage moonsault during the contest.

4. Samoa Joe defeated Rockstar Spud via submission with the REAR NAKED CHOKE (2:20).

  • Post-Match: Joe got on the mic and put Dixie Carter on warning that anyone who wanted to interfere in the next match between Sting and Magnus would have to go through him first.

5. No Countout, No DQ: Magnus (c) defeated Sting via pinfall to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Title (13:25).

  • Notes: Much like Magnus/Styles this match also featured a ton of interference from The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz), Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian), Ethan Carter III, and Bobby Roode who once again hit the final blow to allow Magnus to get the victory.
  • Post-Match: Magnus grabbed Sting’s contract and ripped it up over his fallen foe to end the show. It was also announced that the “mystery investor” hinted at by The Wolves last week will be revealed on next week’s show.

Segments + Notes

-The show opened with Dixie Carter discussing the “mystery investor” with her unnamed lawyer, who said he would get to the bottom of it soon. Magnus chimed in and said they can fight back against this attempted coup by giving his match with Sting a “No Countout, No DQ” stipulation. Magnus then hit the ring alongside Rockstar Spud and Ethan Carter III to mock Sting who came out to defend himself, stating that he was allowed to have a person in his corner due to the “mystery investor”. Magnus accused him of paying this investor off, but Sting plead ignorance. Sting announced that Samoa Joe would the man watching his back tonight.

-A video played of The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) who said the investor who brought them in will be revealed next week in Glasgow.

– TNA Tag Team Champs The Bro Mans and Zema Ion came out to talk trash about Eric Young & Joseph Park who they will defend the belts against next week in Glasgow. EY eventually made his way out to attack but the trio beat him down. Abyss then surprisingly showed up and laid waste to all three guys then goozled EY, who calmed him down.

Match Results

1. Team Sting (Samoa Joe, James Storm, Gunner, Eric Young, ODB & Joseph Park) defeated Team Dixie (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Zema Ion, Lei’D Tapa, Robbie E, & Jessie Godderz) when Joe made Daniels tap to the REAR-NAKED CHOKE (7:32).

2. No-DQ Match: Bully Ray defeated Mr. Anderson via pinfall with a piledriver (9:32).

  • Notes: Anderson went to light a table on fire but was caught with the piledriver before he could do so, so that tease continues.

3. Madison Rayne defeated Gail Kim (c) [w/ Lei’D Tapa] via pinfall to win the TNA Knockouts Title (4:06).

  • Before the Match: Kim attacked Rayne backstage during an interview segment with Jeremy Borash.
  • Notes: Tapa was ejected from ringside during the match.

4. Ethan Carter III defeated Sting via pinfall with a roll-up (4:54).

  • Notes: Rockstar Spud was initially the special guest referee but was taken out by Sting for refusing to count. Magnus then came in and acted as ref, enacting a fast count to secure EC3 the victory.
  • Post-Match: Sting got on the mic and goaded Magnus, calling him a “little boy” and saying he wanted just one shot at the World Title. Magnus agreed…if Sting puts his TNA career on the line. Sting agreed to it and the match will happen on next week’s show.

Segments/Notes

-The show opened with Rockstar Spud introducing Dixie Carter to the ring. She gloated about the end of last week’s show then brought out World Champ Magnus who carried two World Title belts. Magnus gave one to Carter saying deserved the honor. The Bro Mans, Zema Ion, Gail Kim, Lei’D Tapa, and Bad Influence were then welcomed out and Carter thanked them for their help last week hinting their paychecks would increase because of it. Ethan Carter III then came out to hype his upcoming match with Sting. Sting appeared in the crowd and bemoaned everything that happened last week while calling Magnus a “paper champion”. He then said that “we” were going to fight tonight and out came Samoa Joe, James Storm, Gunner, Eric Young, Joseph Park, ODB. A brawl broke out and eventually it settled into the opening 12-man tag team match. It should be noted that this opening segment ate up 30 minutes of the show.

-X Division Champion Chris Sabin dressed down his girlfriend Velvet Sky in the ring, calling her “selfish”, until Austin Aries came out. After some back and forth they agreed to a match next week: Sabin Vs. Aries for the X-Division Title with Sky in a cage ringside so she can’t be forced to either man. Sky herself agreed to this for that reason and also hinted she would find a new man if Sabin doesn’t get the job done.

The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) made their debut in a backstage segment (as “The Wolves”) with Dixie Carter. Carter got excited about their “tryout match” but they informed her they had already signed their contracts and walked off. Carter read the contracts and saw that a “new TNA investor” had been the one who did this under her nose.

Simon Diamond, or Pat Kenney depending on which way you wanna go, ran into Samuel Shaw backstage. Calling him “Sam”, he told him that he should probably lay off of Christy Hemme a bit. Shaw then ruthlessly attacked Diamond out of anger, and corrected him saying his name is “Samuel”.

Kurt Angle called out Dixie Carter to the ring to answer for everything she’s done. Carter says it was best for her company and her team and Angle said he was not part of her team and would get involved in Sting/EC3 if he had to. Carter then called for security to escort Angle out of the building. Bobby Roode then hit the ring and laid Angle out with his ROODE BOMB before security got rid of Angle for the rest of the night.

-Announced for next week’s Genesis Night 2: Sting/Magnus for the World Title/Sting’s Career, Angle/Roode in a Cage, Aries/Sabin for the X-Division Title, Storm Vs. Gunner for the World Title briefcase.

‘TNA Impact Wrestling’ 1/9/14 Results + Notes – Magnus Vs. AJ Styles, Two Cage Matches, Samoa Joe Vs. EC3

impact-wrestling-generic

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

A week after making his surprising return to TNA, the exiled “real” World Champion AJ Styles faced off against Dixie’s World Champion Magnus to decide once and for all who deserved to be at the top of the mountain. Also on the show Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode both faced threats inside of a steel cage, Samoa Joe took on Ethan Carter III, and Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson had a little spat in a funeral home.

Read on for results and notes from the show, culled from James Caldwell‘s much more interesting and detailed coverage/review over at PWTorch.

Match Results

1. Non-Title Match: *TNA Tag Team Champions* The Bro Mans (Robbie E & Jessie Godderz) [w/ DJ Zema Ion] defeated Joseph Park & Eric Young (3:28).

  • Notes: Lei’D Tapa attacked ODB backstage, causing Eric Young to run to the back and bail on the match.
  • Post-Match: The Bro Mans continued assaulting Park, bodyslamming him on a guardrail to take him out for the rest of the night.

2. Samoa Joe and Ethan Carter III fought to an apparent no contest when Carter hit Joe with a wrench (2:52).

  • Before the Match: Carter jumped Joe backstage and the two brawled to the ring to start the contest.
  • Notes: Rockstar Spud came out to distract Joe, allowing Carter to hit him with the wrench and take him out for the rest of the night.

3. Handicap Cage Match: Kurt Angle defeated Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) when he pinned Kazarian following an ANGLE SLAM (6:10).

  • Before the Match: Bobby Roode came out in his wrestling gear and teased facing Angle tonight instead of next week, but backed off and introduced his opponents Bad Influence instead.

4. Cage Match: Bobby Roode defeated Sting by escaping the cage (7:11).

  • Notes: Rockstar Spud and EC3 came out during the match, the former tossing Roode a pipe which he used on Sting to knock him out. Spud then unlocked the cage door and allowed him to escape and win.

5. No-DQ Match: Magnus (c) defeated AJ Styles (c) via pinfall to become the one true TNA World Heavyweight Champion (15:45).

  • Notes: Rockstar Spud, EC3, Bad Influence, and Bobby Roode all interfered in the match. Roode hit Styles with his fireman’s carry drop finisher three times to secure the victory for Magnus. The original ref, Earl Hebner, refused to “screw” Styles and walked off mid-match. Brian Hebner was tapped to replace him but before he could call the match for Styles Bad Influence attacked him. Sting was the only one to run interference for Styles but it wasn’t enough.

Segments/Notes

-The episode opened with AJ Styles signing the one night contract for the main event later in the episode. Lots jawing back and forth between Styles, Dixie Carter, and eventually Magnus.

Mr. Anderson met Bully Ray at the same funeral home/church/whatever that The Aces & Eights Funeral was held in. Ray said some prophetic words then hyped their match for next week’s Genesis special, saying it was only going to be the beginning. Ray then told Anderson to look in the casket, and Anderson pulled out two baby blankets, which symbolized Anderson’s unborn twins.

James Storm and Gunner had another heart to heart in the ring, hyping a future match between the two for the TNA World Title shot briefcase Gunner won during “Feast or Fired”.

-The big throughline of the episode involved Dixie Carter making sure no one was around to help AJ Styles win his match, causing the attacks on Samoa Joe, Joseph Park, ODB (and by proxy Eric Young), Sting, and even James Storm and Gunner. Sting would eventually survive his attack and help Styles out a little bit during the match.

‘TNA Impact Wrestling’ 1/2/14 Results + Notes – AJ Styles Returns, New X Division Champ Crowned, Beer Money Reunion

impact-wrestling-generic

Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz

A coronation was to be held for new champion Magnus this week on IMPACT Wrestling but the festivities were halted when AJ Styles made his return, leading to one hell of an interesting match next week. Also on the show Chris Sabin challenged X Division Champion Austin AriesSamuel Shaw made his in-ring redebut, Beer Money reluctantly reunited to fight a common enemy, and Sting once again confronted the spoiled Ethan Carter III.

Read on for results and notes from the show, culled from James Caldwell‘s much more detailed coverage/review over at PWTorch.

Match Results/Notes

1. Gail Kim’s Open Challenge (Non-Title): Madison Rayne defeated *TNA Knockouts Champion* Gail Kim [w/ Lei’D Tapa] via pinfall with a roll-up (5:05).

  • Before the Match: Kim cut a promo asking for the next person to answer her Open Challenge. It was Madison Rayne…obviously. Also apparently the “outside the company” rule is no longer in effect.

2. Chris Sabin [w/ Velvet Sky] defeated Austin Aries (c) via pinfall to win the TNA X-Division Title (5:43).

  • Note: Sabin coerced Sky into standing on the apron, distracting Aries long enough for Sabin to hit a nut shot and pin him to win the belt back.
  • Post-Match: Jeremy Borash interviewed the new champ, who thanked himself and ignored the fact that Sky helped him win.

3. Samuel Shaw defeated Norv Fernum via KO with a nervehold (1:37).

  • Notes: Shaw continued his infatuation with Christy Hemme by smiling at her throughout the match and her acting creeped out by it. Shaw also wrestled pretty much in his serial killer street clothes.

4. Beer Money (James Storm & Bobby Roode) defeated Kurt Angle & Gunner when Roode pinned Gunner with a reverse Death Valley Driver (6:46).

5. Joseph Park defeated Bully Ray via DQ when Ray kicked him in the junk (0:55).

  • Before the Match: Eric Young tried to psyche Joseph Park up, but after he left in came Bully Ray who warned Park not to show up or he’d burn for Mr. Anderson’s sins.
  • Post-Match: Ray pulled out lighter fluid and doused Park in it but before he could do anything in came Mr. Anderson for the save. Ray sprayed him with fluid also then flicked on the lighter threatening to do something…and then didn’t and walked away instead.

Segments/Notes

-The show opened with Kurt Angle coming out to the ring to lament his terrible 2013. Bobby Roode quickly interrupted and the verbal sparring went back and forth until Angle challenged Roode to a Cage Match at Genesis in two weeks with a special stipulation: if Angle loses, he’ll leave TNA. Roode and Angle then brawled until referees came out to separate and Rockstar Spud came out to berate them for almost ruining the coronation night. Spud then told each man to find a partner for later for a tag team match because why not. Later on Angle chose Gunner as his partner which angered James Storm enough to offer himself to be Roode’s partner despite how much they hate one another. FORCED BEER MONEY REUNION!

Ethan Carter III made his way out and put over how great of a 2013 he had and how he’s undefeated, then called out his opponent for this week: the recently-departed Jeff Hardy. Obviously he didn’t come out but before he could get the countout victory in came Sting. Sting goaded EC3 some more until EC3 finally agreed to face Sting at Genesis.

-A special “Champion Coronation Ceremony” closed this week’s IMPACT Wrestling episode with new champion Magnus getting a big throne and everything to sit in, courtesy of Dixie CarterRockstar Spud and Ethan Carter III were also there to watch. Magnus said a few words and thanked the Carter family, and then out came Gunner with his “Feast or Fired” briefcase looking to cash in his World Title shot. Spud and EC3 attacked Gunner and held him for Magnus until AJ Styles made his return. Styles cleared the ring of EC3 and Spud while Magnus and Carter bailed. Styles called Magnus a “farce” of a champion then challenged him to a match to decide who the real champion was. Magnus accepted, much to the chagrin and anger of Carter, and it will take place on next week’s show.
